Marie Phelan - Presentation
Posted: Mon, Jun 19, 2017
Marie Phelan's presentation of her work was nothing but absolutely Stunning!! It looked amazing on the screen but then when we saw the actual prints we were all left speechless... Her garden must be something else, as all of her work is based on flowers from it! She also had some samples of greeting cards with her, having been approached by a card company to use her work in greeting cards! Such a nice lady along with it!

TBPS turns 10

The Tommy Byrne Photographic Society celebrated it's 10th Birthday last night in the Bridge Hotel, Arklow. 10 years of great successes including many Ipf distinctions, a gold pin, not to mention many other awards including our own competitions and now inter-club competitions. What is just as important is the friendliness of the Society, the backup and support each member gives and receives from fellow members in relation to their photography, the craic, camaraderie, encouragement and welcome that is part of the TBPS. Many congratulations to Fiona on winning the "Birthday Cake Competition" with her replica of a Canon eos camera, and to CathyAnn and Marie for winning the quiz based on the last 10 years. Many, many thanks to Stewart for organising the quiz, Elena for organising the cake competition and the beautiful prize, and for putting together the wonderful slide show covering the past 10 years of the TBPS.Also a big "Thank You" to Gerry from the Dainty Bakery for judging the cake competition, and to Pat, Jim and Noreen from the "Bridge Hotel" for the lovely finger food, and for all your help and hospitality over the years. Personally I would like to thank the committee and members for the beautiful bunch of flowers I was presented with for my work as secretary, totally unexpected and very much appreciated. I really love them! So here's to the next great 10 years at the TBPS. The First TBPS - WPC Interclub Landscape Competition. - 3rd Dec 2014
Posted: Sun, Dec 7, 2014
Wednesday the 3rd of December saw our Inter Club landscape competition take place in the Bridge Hotel between the Tommy Byrne Photographic Society and the Wicklow Photography Club. With approx. 60 photographs between the two clubs the standard of the entries was extremely high and the judge admitted that he had a hard task on his hands. Even though it was an interclub competition there was great camaraderie and atmosphere between the two clubs as we all waited for the judge’s decision. Running order on the night was. 1st Place...John Kehoe...TBPS. 2nd Place..John Durston.. WPC. 3rd Place....Bev Nickelson..TBPS. Highly Commended...John Smyth..WPC Highly Commended....Dave Brennan....WPC. We have the subject for next year’s Interclub Competition; its “Open”. Members are already thinking of photos for that one. This competition will be an annual competition between Arklow and Wicklow. Wicklow are the host for next year’s competition. We also plan to meet up next for different occasions.
